Andy's Community Cafe
Our friendly community cafe Andy's is open on Wednesdays and Thursdays during term time.
We serve great barista coffees, a selection of teas, scrummy cakes and snacks, plus a pay-as-you-feel menu where you pay what you can afford - no questions asked - so no one goes hungry!
We also open Andy's on special events such as Out of Hours (click here for more information) and the Christmas Market.

The 'meeting place'
You’ll meet all ages at Andy's: mums and toddlers, the elderly and many working people who socialise with colleagues or discuss business.
It’s a handy place to go when after shopping, or after an appointment at the Health Centre next door, or while you're waiting for a prescription from Boot's Pharmacy.
People of all ages come regularly to meet friends. For others it’s a social lifeline, because they know they can arrive without knowing anyone, receive a friendly welcome, chat to our volunteers and maybe make new friends.
One regular customer said the most important thing to him is the welcome he always gets. “The food is delicious and good value, but it’s the people working here who make it special,” he said.
A range of great coffees
You’ll find your favourite coffee: cappuccino, mocha, latte and regular coffees using freshly ground ingredients from quality suppliers. It's been said we have the best cups of coffee in town – but we don’t charge ‘town centre’ prices!
Paid in advance
If you'd like a free coffee or meal, just take a button from the pot and hand it to the cashier. It means someone has already bought it for you!
If you'd like to pay for a needy future customer, please ask our staff about donating.

"I love this cafe! It's about the only place I can go locally with my baby twins and 4 year old for a drink and/or food and feel welcome despite the mess and noise we sometimes (almost always) bring with us!
"The ladies and gents who volunteer here are so lovely and always have time for a chat, and are only too happy to entertain or cuddle one baby while I take the other for a nappy change.
"The food is yummy and the coffee is excellent. The children's area is brilliant, with Duplo, dolls house and a train table, and having a children's toilet right next to it is such a lifesaver - it was the only place we dared venture to in the early days of toilet training.
"We come most weeks and my daughter loves it so much, she says she wants to work here when she grows up!"
